DISCOVER LOZÈRE WILDLIFE

The Lozère is home to a multitude of wild animals, and its natural heritage has become a refuge for endangered species.

The Lozère wildlife holiday is an interlude in a preserved, natural environment.

Gévaudan wolves

The animal park at Sainte-Lucie will help you set aside the fanciful stories and legends which portray wolves as evil predators.

European bison

The bison reserve at Sainte Eulalie hosts one of Europe's largest wild mammals in a vast forest habitat. "Bison bonasus" lived in the Margeride thousands of years ago. One of history's survivors, these huge beasts have returned to their ancestral lands.

The Vulture Lookout

A magical site where the age-old complicity between man and vultures is renewed. In a building set into the superb landscape of the Jonte gorges, an underground trail full of surprises, sounds, images and stories acts as an introduction to these great birds, reintroduced after 40 years' absence. The terrace provides an excellent view of their aerial antics above the Jonte and the Causses. The highlight of the visit is a video broadcast of vultures in the wild, filmed in some of their most secret hideouts.
