The Mont-Lozère is the highest point in the département (1700 m). Two major rivers have their source on its banks: the Lot and the Tarn. The granite architecture testifies to the harsh winter climate, whereas in the surrounding valleys conditions the weather is more forgiving.

Mont Lozère
Circuit : 109 km

Le Bleymard
Just a few kilometres from the source of the Lot, this large village is typefied by fine houses with slate roofs.

Castanet
The marvellous Château de Castanet was almost swallowed up when the reservoir was filled.

Villefort
Numerous activities are on offer in this touristic village. The lake is one of the département's most popular.

Mas de la Barque
This small ski resort is dominated by the Rocher de l'Aigle and the Pic Cassini, one of the high points of the Mont Lozère ridge.

Belvédère des Bouzèdes
On fine days the view from this lookout point, at an altitude of 1232 metres, extends to the Mont Ventoux (in the Vaucluse département) and the Alps.

Génolhac
There is a Mediterranean feel to this village at the end of the valley. Unusually, it is built around an old long single street.
