  The simplicity of the landscape surprises visitors to the Causse de Sauveterre. The numerous standing stones are reminders of an enthralling, mysterious past. Discover life in the Sauveterre region at the village of Les Boissets, now a visitor centre.  
 
 
Causse de Sauveterre
Circuit : 98 km

La Canourgue
Known as the "Little Venice in the Lozère" due to the numerous streams and canals. Overhanging houses, 12th century church.

Le Sabot de Malpeyre
A curious hoof-shaped rock, 30 m high, overlooking the valley on the D46 road towards the Causse de Sauveterre.

Chanac
The village is dominated by the keep of what was one of the finest châteaux in the Gévaudan region. 13th century church.

Champerboux
This old village with its traditional architecture is surrounded by Celtic menhirs and dolmens.

Sainte-Enimie
One of the most beautiful villages in France, with its narrow streets paved with pebbles from the Tarn, and remarkably restored houses.

Point Sublime
(nearby)
Three-star site. The finest view overlooking the Tarn gorges 400 metres below.

Le Massegros
The smallest administrative centre in the Lozère (pop. 800). Traditional Causse buildings.

Saint Saturnin (nearby)
A magnificent partially restored château. Access via a scenic country road.
