Gentle landscape, cool shady areas, grasslands, forests with varied tree species. From Mont Mouchet to the European bison reserve, from the medieval citadel of Malzieu to the Château de Saint Alban, discover the history of this land of granite and tradition.

Margeride by road
Circuit : 77 km

Tour de Ruynes
The tower houses a documentation centre and exhibitions to start your trip through the Margeride.

Mont Mouchet
On the fringes of the Lozère département, this hot bed of the WWII resistance movement is worth a detour for its museum.

Le Malzieu
The architectural heritage of this fortified village in the land of the Gévaudan beast is particularly well presented.

European bison reserve (nearby)
Visit the reserve by horse-drawn carriage or sleigh and watch bison as they roam in semi-captivity. Museum area.

St Alban
Destroyed by the English in 1364 and restored by an earl, the Château of Saint-Alban is full of intriguing history. Worth a look.
