It is said that pilgrims on their way to Compostela stopped to tend their sores at the thermal source of La Chaldette as early as the 12th century. La Chaldette and Chaudes-Aïgues are now high quality spa centres, thanks to the soothing volcanic spa water.

Spas by road
Circuit : 68 km

Garabit
This viaduct, built by Gustave Eiffel, is 564 m long and 123 m high and spans one of the finest meanders of the river Truyère.

Belvédère de Mallet
Standing over 300 m above the lake of Grandvals, the belvedere offers a unique view over the lower Bès valley.

Chaudes-Aigues (Spa resort)
The car-free streets of this spa village (water at 82°C) and medieval citadel seem lost in the middle ages.

La Chaldette
The village of La Chaldette hosts a spa and fitness centre designed by the architect J.M. Wilmotte.

Fournels (Château and village)
Minor administrative centre for the north of the Lozère département. 11th century chateau at the heart of a charming rural region.
